The landscape on the 125-metre high Scherpenberg hill consists of fontinal woods, wet spring meadows, sloping pasture, and dry arable land. This protected landscape is interspersed with hedgerows, small stands of trees and individual specimen trees. During the First World War, a large scale relief map of the area in concrete was set on the hill for use by British troops. During excavation work in 1969-1970, prehistoric seashells and even sharks' teeth were dug up! The Scherpenberg is best explored by following the Scherpenberg path.
