The village of La Clytte (De Klijte in Dutch) was used as a brigade headquarters. The first burials in this cemetery were made in November 1914 by infantry, artillery and engineering units serving in the area. After the war, it was expanded by the addition of isolated graves and the concentration of smaller cemeteries in the vicinity.
