The course of Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields conquers the main slopes of the cycling classic 'Gent-Wevelgem'. On the programme: 56 kilometres of suffering, 3 infamous plugstreets (semi-hardened strips in and around Ploegsteert) and 7 tough hills, including a double climb of the Kemmelberg.
You can start this route from Messines (tourist info point, Markt 1), Roeselare (KOERS. Museum van de Wielersport, Polenplein 15) and Wevelgem (Parking Guldenbergplein).
Can you handle this? Then choose the 56,5-kilometre loop at the start at the Visitor Centre 'Het Heuvelland', and first cycle through the Menin Gate in Ypres before the real climbing starts.
