This map of the old front region - ‘Wars Without End’ - gives a summary of all the heritage sites in our landscape that are associated with the First World War, the Second World War and the Cold War. Where are these sites located? Which ones can be visited? What is the story behind them? Where was the front line and how did it change during the war? In particular, the First World War was a truly international war, which brought soldiers from no fewer than nine di• erent nations to fi ght and die in Heuvelland. For each country, we will highlight the story of one soldier, who will stand as a representative for all his fellow-countrymen. In addition, we will also look at the post-war reconstruction of the region, as well as exploring the links with the Second World War and the Cold War.
