Circus 157

'Circus 157' was the code name for the air raid on Lille on 5 May 1942. 3:30 in the afternoon, an air battle between British Spitfires and German Focke-Wulfs broke out over the Heuvelland landscape. Pilot Karel Pavlik crashed his Spitfire into the flank of the Kemmelberg hillside, along the Lettingstraat on the Loker-Dranouter border. Circus 157 is also the moniker of a café on the village square in Dranouter. The 'De Pelikaan' café in Dranouter underwent a total metamorphosis and emerged as a vintage eatery with plenty of extra features! There is a diverse 'small catering menu' and so many tasty snacks. You can stop in for a great beer with some bar snacks or enjoy a delicious pancake. Follow live sports on TV or play a game of billiards. For the kids, there is a fantastic indoor playground. The kitchen is open Monday and Tuesday from 12:00 pm, Wednesday from 11:30 am, Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 am.
